The story behind it
Why I designed it
When we started building the Staey Puppy Edit, the Puppy H-Strap Dog Harness was one of the first pieces I knew we needed to get right. So many new dog owners come to us looking for something to start with – something that fits a small puppy properly, looks good from day one, and doesn't need to be replaced after a few months.
I wanted a harness that could grow with the dog, not just in size, but in confidence. The logo woven into the material was important to me too – even on the smallest harness, it should feel like a proper Staey product, not a scaled-down afterthought.
The H-Harness is what I wish had existed when I was starting out with a puppy. Something simple, well-made, and built to last a little longer than the puppy phase itself.
What it took to get it right
Getting the Puppy H-Strap Dog Harness right for puppies meant solving a specific challenge: building something small enough for the tiniest dogs, but durable enough to grow with them. Early versions either fit well at the start but quickly became too restrictive, or were adjustable but felt loose and unsecured at the smaller end of the range.
We reworked the placement of the adjustment points several times, testing different configurations until we found the three-point setup that gives a snug, secure fit on a small puppy without needing to be completely readjusted as they grow. Getting the logo woven cleanly into the material at this scale also took more attempts than expected – the smaller dimensions made it harder to keep the detail crisp without adding unnecessary stiffness to the webbing.
The result is a harness that feels like it was made for a puppy from day one – because it was.

My story
Hi, I’m Noa – designer and founder of Staey. I live in Denmark with my dog Alba, and I started Staey because I was tired of choosing between functionality and aesthetics.
Every Staey design starts with real moments from my life with my own Alba. I sketch the first ideas at my kitchen table, and my team and I test, tweak and adjust until it works – for your dog and for you. Because practical can (and should) look beautiful.
